Hey everyone! Long time no blog, I know. My second year of grad school began at the end of August and I’ve been on the go non-stop ever since! One thing I have been keeping up with is my daily exercise classes (and healthy eating habits of course ).
A new schedule at my gym in Syracuse came out a few weeks ago and I was very happy to see a 6am Yogalates class. When I looked back at my exercise log, I saw that I haven’t taken a Yogalates class in over a year! For those of you who are unfamiliar with Yogalates, it’s a mix of yoga and pilates (hence the name!). We usually start off with light stretching, then move into sun salutations and other yoga poses, then finish off with deep pilates abdominal work along with other pilates exercises.
I look forward to this class every single week! I love starting off my day feeling both strong and stretched out. Sometimes I think a lot of us get caught up in how much cardio we are doing or how much weight we are lifting, and completely neglect the benefits that stretching and balance have on our bodies. Stretching is an important component of any fitness regimen and this class has reminded me of that!
If you haven’t tried a Yogalates class before, I highly recommend it. Off to enjoy my Friday night!
Have you ever taken a Yogalates class? Do you like to mix yoga and pilates or prefer to practice them separately?
